This would protect our customer’s health and safety while maintaining the regulation’s important anti-fraud tools that focus on the 8% of used car and truck sales where fraud is likely to occur. Our action is similar to measures adopted by other industries such as the airlines and hotels.
We know that this crisis creates an opportunity for fraudsters to take advantage of the situation with scams and false claims, which is not new to our industry. We believe that by extending the grace period as opposed to waiving it, we would protect the public health and welfare while still providing relief at a time when both are needed.
