CARCO
maintains an extensive network of inspection sites in New York,
New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Florida.
These networks consist of vehicle-related
businesses such as gasoline service stations, car dealerships,
glass repair stores, tire stores and muffler shops.
The primary benefit of becoming a CARCO inspection location is
to bring automobile owners who live and/or work in your local
area into your business. Close to two million vehicles require
inspection each year in the territories CARCO covers,
providing a great deal of potential
new business. CARCO publishes
thousands of inspection site lists for insurance companies and
agencies, which contain the names and
addresses of all CARCO inspection facilities and
provide free advertising for your
business. Inspection facilities are also available from our
site locator link.
CARCO inspection sites receive a fee for performing photo
inspections, which take about 15 minutes,
and use Polaroid or digital photography methods.
For businesses that have Internet accessibility, we also
offer the capability to perform an inspection online, using a
secure Web page.
The pre-insurance photo inspection consists of two parts:
THE VISUAL INSPECTION: an authorized
inspector examines the vehicle for options, anti-theft systems,
and rust and body damage.
Information is recorded on an
inspection report form, along with the name of the insured, the
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and a description of the
vehicle. Mechanical knowledge is NOT required to perform the
inspection.
THE PHOTOS: Three color pictures are
taken of the vehicle:
two at oblique angles to obtain a view
of all four sides of the vehicle. The third picture
is taken of the VIN label, which
is normally found in the driver side door jamb.
