Lana R. Batts

Lana R. Batts has almost four decades of experience in the trucking industry. She is widely quoted in the trade press and is a sought after public speaker, know for her sharp insights and quick wit on the state of the trucking industry.
Currently, she is the co-President of Driver iQ, a full-service background screening company (www.driveriq.com).
Previously, she was managing partner of Transport Capital Partners, LLC, a mergers and acquisition firm that specializes in the trucking industry (2001 to 2011) (www.TransportCap.com).
From 1994 to 2000, she was the President of the Truckload Carriers Association (www.truckload.org). While at the Truckload Carriers Association, she led the successful turn around of the Professional Truck Driver Institute (www.ptdi.org) and established the Truckload Academy (www.truckloadacademy.org).
Prior to joining TCA, she was the President and CEO of the American Financial Services Association (1992-1994) (www.afsaonline.org).
For twenty years, she was with the American Trucking Associations, culminating in the position of Senior Vice President for the Government Affairs (www.trucking.org).
Batts is currently on the Board of Directors of Brown Trucking Co. (www.browntrucking.com) and the Transportation Costing Group (www.tcgcis.com).
She has served on the Boards of Mullen Transportation (www.mullentransportation.com) a publicly traded Canadian corporation (TSE: MTL.UN) and PeopleNet Communications (www.peoplenetonline.com). She served as president of the Transportation Research Forum. In 1994 she was the proud recipient of the American Trucking Associations' highest award – the S. Earl Dove Award. In 1997, she was named Woman of the year by the Women's Transportation Seminar. In 2006, she received the Lee Crittenden award from the Professional Truck Driver Institute for her contributions to the organization's goals.
She grew up in a trucking family in Billings, Montana, where her father owned a livestock trucking company. She graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Political Science and History and holds an MA (with honors) from the University of Miami (FL) in Politics and Public Affairs. She has done doctoral work at the University of Maryland in transportation.
