HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE
Founded in 1977,
CARCO Group, Inc., a privately-held corporation, began
operations with offices located in St. James, New York
(approximately two miles from the State University of New York
at Stony Brook). The company's objective was to become a leader
in providing select business information services in specific
geographic areas - an objective long since achieved.
The company, first and foremost, is in the business of providing
leading-edge fraud deterrent/detection services to niche
markets. By focusing on a single line of service, where it could
rapidly achieve a high level of expertise and efficiency, and
embracing a strong customer-driven attitude, CARCO has been able
to provide advantages over its competition and acquire a
leadership position in the business sectors it serves.
Initially providing underwriting report services (Insurance
Services Division) brought about by a legislative mandate to the
New York insurance community, CARCO quickly expanded its
services to Massachusetts, New Jersey, California, Florida,
and Rhode Island. CARCO successfully penetrated this market to become the
leader in the industry. Coupled with two successive acquisitions
of competitor companies within a span of eighteen months, the
company now represents virtually every insurance carrier that
writes automobile physical damage insurance in those states that
have inspection regulations (including their Assigned Risk
Markets), with an industry-leading national and international
inspection site network of approximately 7,000 locations.
Following its success in the insurance inspection market, CARCO
expanded its business focus by providing employee screening
services (Research Division) on job applicants and new hires for
some of the most prestigious organizations in the securities and
banking industries, and the petrochemical industries as well.
Continued development of leading-edge software programs,
including the proprietary ZipCrim™ product line, and other
customized employee screening offerings, has enabled the company
to expand its investigative services to a multi-industry
national client base.
